About Mama’s on Vacation

Welcome to Mama’s on Vacation, a travel blog that helps moms plan stress-free vacations.

About Me and My Family

I’m Heidi, a mom from Ontario who loves vacation planning.

I’m an Early Childhood Educator, and mom to two girls. Zen, my teenager, and Brie my autistic adult (see my sister site Autism on Vacation for autism specific travel tips, travel guides, and autism-friendly ratings of attractions, events, and accommodations from our trips).

About Mama’s on Vacation

Vacation planning has always been like a hobby for me.  I enjoy doing all the research and coming up with a detailed plan for our trips.  But I know some moms don’t find the planning part that appealing, or just simply don’t have the time for it.

That’s why my goal here on Mama’s on Vacation is to take out all the work of finding information for vacations for you, so you can find everything you need to know in one place.

I will be posting detailed vacation guides with all of the information you need to visit a destination from the best hotels and attractions to tips and reviews of our experience.

In addition to these longer travel guide posts, I will also be posting smaller articles to review hotels and attractions, give you ideas for destinations and attractions to visit, tips for travelling with kids and making vacations more affordable, how to take the stress out of a vacation, and more.

My posts will include everything from full on family vacations to day trips in Southwestern Ontario and nearby areas.

Of course, my travel isn’t just limited to family trips. I’m fortunate to have family that will help with the kids, so I sometimes get away for a girls trip, or a solo trip too. Admittedly these trips have only been happening for the last few of years, as it was a lot harder to get away (and find other moms who were able to ditch the kids for a few days) when the kids were younger.

Of course, since I am started this blog in the middle of a global pandemic (I bought the website the first week of March 2020), I have also posted some virtual travel we did then (and how I make it more fun), for any other mamas who need help keeping their kids entertained at home.
