Is the ‘Ohana Gluten Free Breakfast Any Good?
Yes—the gluten-free options were decent, it’s a fun setting, and it’s a great way to meet characters without the line.
In January 2025, I took my kids to ‘Ohana. Brie and I ate gluten free while Zen stuck to the regular menu. ‘Ohana was my favorite gluten-free Disney dining experience—and it’s in my favorite resort. The tropical, Hawaiian vibe is relaxing and immersive. You forget you’re at Disney and feel like you’re on a tropical island. Add in a decent gluten-free breakfast and the chance to meet some of the best Disney characters, and it became a must-do.
Plus, while you’re there, you can explore the Polynesian and Island Tower. Check out the lobby, walk out front to see the gardens, or relax in a hammock on the beach. You can also resort hop by walking to the Grand Floridian or taking the Monorail to the Contemporary (and from there catch a boat to Wilderness Lodge or Fort Wilderness).
During our latest trip, we tried the gluten-free options at two other table-service restaurants: Hollywood and Vine’s Disney Junior Play n’ Dine Breakfast and Round Up Rodeo BBQ (my favorite). If you’re curious about where else to eat gluten free at the resorts, take a look at my full Disney Gluten Free Restaurants Review.
We also did a lot of resort hopping. To learn more about how to resort hop and what’s worth seeing, check out my posts on Things to Do at Disney Resorts, my Disney Resort Hopping Guide, and my 8 Resort Hopping Itineraries.
Planning Your ‘Ohana Gluten Free Breakfast
Reservations at ‘Ohana tend to fill up fast. You can check the My Disney Experience app for a “join walk-up list” option, but it’s not always available. It’s safer to book ahead to avoid missing out.
‘Ohana offers breakfast and dinner, but only breakfast includes characters. Breakfast is served from 7:30 AM to 12:15 PM. Like all Disney Table Service dining, there is a cancellation policy—you need to cancel at least two hours before your reservation or you’ll be charged a $10-per-person cancellation fee.
‘Ohana is located on the second floor of the Great Ceremonial House at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. You’ll find it right at the top of the stairs. You don’t have to be staying at the Polynesian to eat at ‘Ohana—anyone can book a reservation and enjoy this popular character meal. Be sure to stop at the front desk on your way in to grab a free lei.
When you arrive, check in on the My Disney Experience app or at the host stand at the top of the stairs. There’s a seating area past check-in where you can wait until your table is ready. It can get busy, so if you want a drink while you wait, grab a seat at Tambu Lounge just outside ‘Ohana.
For guests with dietary restrictions, the ‘Ohana allergy menus are posted online so you can review them before your visit. Below, you’ll find the Ohana gluten-free menu items listed for breakfast and dinner.
What Characters Are at ‘Ohana Breakfast?

You’ll meet four characters here: Lilo, Stitch, Mickey, and Pluto.
While Stitch can be found wandering around Tomorrowland, the Best Friends Breakfast is the only official meeting spot for him and the only place you can meet Lilo. You’ll also get to see Pluto wearing a lei and Mickey in a Hawaiian shirt. They walk around the room and stop at each table for hugs and photos. The characters don’t talk, but you’ll get a postcard with all four signatures.
At some point during your meal, they’ll all gather for the ‘Ohana Aloha Parade to “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride.” Guests are asked to remain seated during the parade.
If you notice a character leaving the dining room before they get to you, don’t worry—they switch out and come right back to finish the loop. A Cast Member will check in with you toward the end of your meal to ensure you’ve seen all four characters.
‘Ohana’s Atmosphere/Theming
‘Ohana has a laid-back, relaxing Hawaiian theme. The décor features bamboo, animal carvings, and tiki statues that add to the tropical vibe. There is an open kitchen in the dining room where you can watch chefs cooking your meal.
It’s a bit dark inside unless you’re seated by the large windows, which offer gorgeous views of the Polynesian grounds, Seven Seas Lagoon, and the Magic Kingdom in the distance. If you’re there for a late dinner, you can watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks show, with piped-in music for the full experience.
While the restaurant can get busy and crowded, the space is well spread out, so it never feels too loud.
Ohana Gluten Free Breakfast Menu

The ‘Ohana breakfast is a classic American breakfast with some Polynesian touches, served family style, and is all you care to enjoy. The food is brought out in skillets and bowls for the whole table to share. If you want more of anything, just ask your server for a refill.
If there are members of your party not eating gluten free, your gluten-free options will be served separately on their own platters, bowls, or skillets and marked with a toothpick for easy identification.
The ‘Ohana breakfast includes drinks like POG juice, coffee, or tea. Specialty beverages are available for an extra cost.
Here’s what you’ll find on the ‘ohana gluten-free breakfast menu:
Starters:
- Cinnamon sugar donuts (served instead of the gluten-containing pineapple-coconut breakfast bread)
- Fresh fruit
‘Ohana Breakfast Skillet, which includes:
- Scrambled eggs
- Pork sausage links
- Hawaiian-style ham topped with pineapple compote
- Fried island-style potatoes
- Gluten-free Mickey and Stitch waffles
Ohana Gluten Free Dinner Menu
We didn’t try dinner, but based on our breakfast experience, I’d go back for it (especially if I could get a reservation during the Magic Kingdom fireworks). Dinner is also all-you-care-to-enjoy, served family style.
‘Ohana’s dinner is known for their signature noodle dish, which is unfortunately not gluten free. It may be possible to make your own gluten free version at home but I wasn’t able to find a gluten free ‘Ohana noodles recipe online so I could see what’s so great about them. I did find a gluten free ‘Ohana bread recipe, which looks worth trying.
Here’s what’s included in the Ohana gluten-free dinner Menu:
- Mixed greens with citrus dressing
- Allergy-friendly rolls
- Honey-coriander wings
- Stir-fry vegetables
- Steamed rice
- Grilled chicken
- Spicy shrimp
- Black pepper and teriyaki-glazed steak
- Guava-pineapple glaze
- Oven-roasted sirloin
- ‘Ohana gluten-free bread pudding with soy-based dessert
Our Ohana Gluten Free Review

We loved our experience at ‘Ohana’s Best Friends Breakfast. It was a great way to see the characters without waiting in line, and the whole meal was relaxing and fun.
We were ahead of schedule and arrived about half an hour early. After checking out the upstairs gift shop, we checked in, had a seat, and were called in about five minutes after our scheduled time, which isn’t bad considering we had one of the last reservation slots of the day.
We ended up with an amazing table right next to the windows, with a stunning view of the Seven Seas Lagoon. I’m disappointed I didn’t get a better photo because the one above doesn’t do it justice. We may have had the best seats in the place.
We were there for just under an hour. It can take an hour for all four characters to make it to your table, but we saw them all pretty quickly. It probably helped that we booked one of the latest reservations—by the time we were finishing our food, the restaurant was nearly empty.
For Brie, being able to eat while waiting for characters made things much easier than standing in line. If anything, she was mildly annoyed that her eating kept getting interrupted.
Lilo was the first character to visit before we even got our first course. Pluto came next while we were working on our donuts. Brie was so focused on hers that she didn’t notice Pluto beside her until he reached over and touched her Mickey ears, which startled her and made all of us laugh.
Mickey came over just after we got our skillets, followed shortly after by Stitch. By the time we were done eating, we had seen all four characters and watched the last ‘Ohana Aloha Parade of the day as we finished up our meal.
The restaurant was busy, but it wasn’t overly loud. There was no background music, just the usual sounds of restaurant chatter. The lighting was pretty dim, but being near a window helped. Brie didn’t seem bothered by any of it and didn’t ask for her headphones at all.
Ohana Gluten Free Breakfast Food

As we were seated, we were served POG juice (a blend of passion fruit, orange, and guava, sometimes called Stitch Juice). I also ordered a coffee, which came out before the food.
Our server brought the first course: a bowl of fresh fruit for the table, plates with gluten-free donuts for me and Brie, and a bowl with pineapple-coconut breakfast bread for Zen.
The donut was a great surprise. I knew Brie and I wouldn’t be getting the pineapple-coconut bread, but I wasn’t sure what the substitute would be. Brie was thrilled—it was the first treat she had on the trip. The donut, from Erin McKenna’s Bakery at Disney Springs, was actually really good—not dry or crumbly like a lot of gluten-free baked goods.
The pineapple bread looked good to me, and Zen said it was good, but not worth filling up on.
Next came the breakfast skillets: a large gluten free one for me and Brie, and a smaller regular one for Zen. They arrived just as we were finishing the fruit and donuts, so the timing was perfect. The only noticeable difference between the two skillets was that Zen’s included biscuits—we didn’t get a gluten free version of those.
Both skillets came topped with Mickey and Stitch waffles. It was a nice surprise to see both character waffles for the gluten-free skillet. I expected gluten-free Mickey waffles since those are standard at quick service spots, but I didn’t know they’d do gluten-free Stitch waffles too.
The eggs and waffles were the same as what you’d get at a quick service—still good, just nothing special. The potatoes were crispy—not the best home fries I’ve had, but better than the potato barrels from the quick service breakfasts. It was at least nice to have something different.
The highlight for me was the meat. The sausage was good, about the same as what you get anywhere, but the ham topped with pineapple compote was the best part of the meal. It was delicious—if I hadn’t been so full, I would’ve asked for seconds. It’s a great addition to a breakfast platter.
Brie’s favorite part was the waffles. I expected her to choose the donut, but the character shapes made the waffles more fun and appealing to her.
Service Experience
Our server was friendly and attentive, and we never felt rushed even though we had one of the last seatings of the day. He checked in regularly to see if we needed more POG juice or coffee, or if we wanted refills on any food items. We didn’t need seconds because our skillets were more than enough, but he still offered another donut for Brie at the end of the meal. She agreed, but we wrapped it in a napkin to take with us for later.
What I really liked about the service was how fast everything came out. By the end of our trip, I had learned that ordering gluten free at quick service locations meant a longer wait, even with mobile orders. At table service restaurants like ‘Ohana, they were much quicker. Both courses were served promptly, and the entire experience didn’t take as long as I expected.

Is ‘Ohana Breakfast Worth It?
‘Ohana Gluten Free Breakfast offers a relaxing atmosphere and a unique chance to meet characters like Lilo and Stitch without long waits. While the food itself isn’t extraordinary beyond the ham, the overall experience makes it worthwhile. For young kids or even a teen with autism like Brie, being able to meet characters without waiting in a line makes it worth it. If the characters and setting matter most to you, ‘Ohana delivers.
