Ripley’s Selfie Studios Review

Ripley’s Selfie Studios Review

If you’re planning a trip to Niagara Falls and wondering whether Ripley’s Selfie Studios is worth your time, this review has you covered. I’ll share what to expect inside the studio, the best times to visit, and a few tips for getting the most out of your selfie photo shoot experience.

Located at the top of Clifton Hill, Ripley’s Selfie Studios is a fun, interactive experience for families, teens, friend groups, or even a date night. With 30 themed sets and photo ops, there’s plenty of variety to help you capture the perfect shots.

We visited on a Friday evening in early December and spent about an hour exploring all the sets. If you’re looking for more Niagara Falls attractions during the off-season, check out my full Niagara Falls Winter Guide or my review of the Clifton Hill Fun Pass for more ideas.

Before we dive into the full review, here’s a quick look at what the studio is and how it works.

What Is Ripley’s Selfie Studios?

Ripley’s Selfie Studios is an interactive attraction with themed “booths” that feature colorful backgrounds and props for taking photos. Unlike self-portrait studios, the sets are designed for Instagramable shots rather than professional portraits, and you’ll need to bring your own camera or phone.

Ripley Selfie Studios Tickets & Prices

Regular admission prices for Ripley’s Selfie Studios are:

  • Adults (13+): $19.99
  • Children (5–12): $15.99

Prices can change depending on the season, with winter typically offering discounted tickets. When we went in early December, there was a limited-time deal for $12.99 per person.

Tickets can be purchased online in advance here, or at the door.

If you’re planning to visit other Ripley’s attractions, combo tickets are available. A three-attraction combo includes entry to Ripley’s Selfie Studios, Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks, and Ripley’s Believe It or Not! for $39.99 for adults and $28.99 for children.

Ripley Selfie Studios Hours & Best Time to Visit

Ripley Selfie Studios hours change seasonally, so it’s best to check their website before heading to Clifton Hill.

Current winter hours:

  • Sunday – Thursday: 10:30 AM – 8:00 PM
  • Friday – Saturday: 9:30 AM – 9:00 PM

When is the best time to visit Ripley’s Selfie Studios?

If you want to avoid crowds, visiting during the winter off-season (November–March) or on a weekday during shoulder season (September–October, April–May) will be your best bet. March Break, summer vacation, and long weekends will be far busier.

How long do you need for Ripley’s Selfie Studios?

Depending on the size of your group and how busy it is, expect to spend 1–2 hours at the studio.

Tips for Visiting Ripley’s Selfie Studios

Tips for Visiting Ripley’s Selfie Studios

Here are some tips to get the most out of your visit:

  • Charge Your Phone or Camera: With so many sets, your battery will drain quickly, so make sure you start fully charged.
  • Bring a Ring Light: The studio no longer has ring lights at the phone stands, so if you want extra lighting for your photos, consider bringing your own.
  • Bring a Portable Charger: If you plan to head down to the bottom of Clifton Hill after your selfie photo shoot, make sure you bring a portable charger so you have enough battery to take some pictures of the falls.
  • Go Early: Getting there closer to opening time can help you avoid crowds, so you can take your time in each area without feeling rushed.
  • Plan Your Outfits and Accessories: Check out the Ripley’s Selfie Studios photos below before you go so you can plan your outfits and even bring some accessories that match the sets.
  • Stay at a Hotel Close By: If you plan to dress up for your selfie photo shoot, staying nearby makes it easier to go back to your room afterward to change into something warmer or more comfortable before heading to other attractions. The Falls Hotel and Inn, just down the street from the studio, is my favorite option.  Read my full review of the Falls Hotel and Inn to see why.

What to Expect Inside Ripley’s Selfie Studios

Ripley’s Selfie Studios has 30 staged areas, each designed for fun, creative photos. Most sets are in their own 3-wall cubicle, with a few in open spaces.

When you first enter, you’ll step into a room with three photo ops you can get shots at. After scanning your ticket and going through the gate, there’s a bright wall with oversized lollipops on the left and your first two cubicle sets on the right. The rest of the studio is arranged along a couple of hallways, with cubicles and photo ops on both sides.

Throughout the studio, there are cell phone holder selfie stands, which make it easier to take group photos or solo shots if you visit alone. They used to have ring lights attached, but during our December 2025 visit, there were none left with lights.

The sets are regularly updated, but here’s what was available during our visit:

Our Ripley’s Selfie Studios Review

We visited on a Friday at 6:00 PM in early December, and it wasn’t busy at all. During the hour we were there, only one other group came through, so we were able to spend as much time as we wanted at each set. The lack of crowds is one of the reasons I love visiting Niagara Falls in the winter. The discounted admission was another bonus.

We used the tripods and set timers for a few family photos, but mostly I focused on getting shots of the kids. Zen has a great artistic eye, and she was able to plan out the perfect poses at each set. The visit even sparked her interest in photography as a career.

While I was impressed with the variety of scenes and the attention to detail, the props were limited. It would have been nice to have small optional items, like a fake rose for the rose bench room, makeup for the vanity, or rubber duckies in the bathtub.

The only downside?

Our visit was completely last-minute. Since it was a winter trip, Brie and I had dressed to stay warm, while Zen was dressed perfectly for a photo shoot. If we had planned ahead, I would have brought nicer outfits for all three of us and then gone back to the hotel afterward to change into something warmer for the rest of the day.

Is Ripley’s Selfie Studios Worth It?

If you’re visiting Ripley’s Believe It or Not! and the wax museum, it’s worth getting the combo ticket and adding Ripley’s Selfie Studios too. Even at full price, for the three of us, it would be worth the $60 for the number of photos we took. That’s far cheaper than hiring a professional photographer, especially with so many sets to choose from.

There’s a lot of potential for great shots. Three of the scenes are perfect for a couple’s photo shoot, and there are lots of cute ones for kids and family photos too.

I would definitely go again on a future trip, though next time I’ll preplan so all three of us are dressed for it and ready to make the most of every set.
