The Best Gluten-Free Restaurants in Disney World

The Best Gluten-Free Restaurants in Disney World

Looking for the best gluten-free restaurants in Disney World?

I spent hours mapping them out before our last trip.

I’ve never been a foodie, but this trip turned me into one. We were there for 10 days, and between park days and resort hopping, I didn’t want to live off gluten-free burgers, chicken fingers, and pizza (even if Brie would’ve happily done just that). While planning out our resort hopping itinerary, I found myself planning around the restaurants with the best gluten-free options.

This wasn’t my first time planning a gluten-free Disney World trip. On our last two visits, I spent a lot of time researching the best gluten-free & dairy-free Disney World restaurants for Brie. This time, dairy was no longer an issue for her, but now I was gluten-free too—so I needed food I’d actually want to eat.

The good news: I already knew eating gluten-free at Disney World was easy.  They’re more accommodating than most places, and they’ve got good allergy protocols in place to avoid cross-contamination. At Table Service restaurants, the chef will come to your table if needed and will prep your meal themselves. At Quick Service restaurants, the manager will take your order, make the food, and bring it out—usually on a separate tray, flagged with an allergy pick so you know it’s yours. Some locations even have a dedicated allergy-friendly mobile order pickup spot.

Planning is easy— menus are online, with many restaurants listing allergy-friendly options right there.  Whether you’re in the parks, at a resort, or in Disney Springs, you’ll find plenty of gluten-free restaurants in Disney World.

So, do Disney World restaurants have gluten-free options? Yes. Tons. The real question is: which ones are worth your time?

And don’t forget the gluten-free Disney snacks! Wow. I hadn’t eaten this well since going gluten-free two years ago. And yes—the Disney gluten-free beignets are a must-have.

Here’s my full breakdown of the best gluten-free restaurants in Disney World, based on what I found planning and actually ate on our trip.

Tips for Eating Gluten-free at Disney World

Tips for Eating Gluten-free at Disney World
  • Plan ahead—most online menus have an allergy section listed below the drink menu
  • When reserving Table Service dining, check the “Food allergy and special requests” box and “gluten/wheat”
  • Be prepared for longer waits at Quick Service restaurants—they’ll call a manager to take your order and prepare your meal
  • Give yourself extra time for mobile orders too
  • If you’re willing to do a buffet, a chef will show you what’s safe or give you an allergy guide to bring up with you
  • You can also ask the chef to make a separate safe plate instead of eating from the buffet
  • If you want all-you-can-eat without the risk of cross-contamination, book a family-style “All You Care to Enjoy” meal instead
  • Park days are busy, stick to Quick Service restaurants when you can and save Table Service for non-park days
  • Character dining is available at resorts too, not just in the parks
  • Get a refillable popcorn bucket—popcorn is an easy and cheap gluten-free Disney snack
  • Dole Whip and many other ice cream options are gluten-free
  • You can bring your own snacks too—Disney allows outside food
  • If you’re really worried about cross-contamination, bring all your meals in a cooler bag.
  • If you have any questions, you can email special.diets@disneyworld.com no more than 14 days before your arrival

Gluten-free Character Dining at Disney

We did two during our trip and enjoyed both.  Yes, they’re expensive—and no, the food alone isn’t worth the price. But you’re not just paying for food. You’re paying to meet characters without waiting in lines. Brie loved being able to eat while we waited for the characters. She actually got annoyed when she had to pause eating to take a picture. Honestly, that’s a win.

Gluten-free at EPCOT

Gluten-free at EPCOT

This was our first park day after two days of resort hopping. EPCOT has so many food options—many of the best gluten-free restaurants in Disney World are here.  Since we weren’t planning on doing any sit-down restaurants here, this list focuses more on the Quick Service options I considered. If you’re a foodie, you’ll want to check out all the Table Service menus to see more great gluten-free options.

What I Ate Gluten-Free at EPCOT

We had a quick breakfast at our resort—just gluten-free “Pop-tarts” we’d brought with us. While waiting for rope drop, we grabbed two popcorn buckets while there were no lines so we’d have a snack ready when we needed.

We started with the rice cream at Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe. We got in line not long after they opened and it was already long. It was good, but I wouldn’t wait in a long line for it again.

Lunch was bratwurst with paprika fries at Sommerfest. I got sauerkraut on mine, Brie stuck with just mustard for hers. I’d been looking forward to this, and it didn’t disappoint.  They were filling, we saved most of the paprika chips to snack on later.

We had planned to try L’Artisan des Glaces for ice cream, but the line was too long. Instead, we grabbed bowls of plain ice cream from a small cart we found while walking—no wait.

We also had to change our dinner plans—I didn’t realize Sunshine Seasons only serves lunch. Instead, we placed a mobile order at Connections Eatery while walking there. Brie got the classic burger and fries, I went with the French Bistro burger and coleslaw, and honestly, I’m glad we changed plans—the burger was worth the walk.

Gluten-free at Animal Kingdom

Gluten-free at Animal Kingdom

This was our second park day, and I’d been looking forward to the food here—they have great options beyond burgers. Plus, I was excited to try the Metkayina Mousse.

  • Flame Tree Barbecue (Quick Service, mobile order available) – ribs, chicken, pulled pork, Impossible™ burnt ends, kids’ hot dog, fries, brownies, cookies
  • Pizzafari (Quick Service, mobile order available) – pizza, salad, kids’ mac and cheese, brownies, cookies

  • Tamu Tamu Refreshments (Quick Service) – Dole Whip

The World of Avatar

  • Satu’li Canteen (Quick Service, mobile order available) – Pork Shoulder Potato Hash, Frittata and Beef, Metkayina Mousse, customizable bowls- with Smoked Chimichurri-Braised Beef, Wood-grilled Chicken, Chili-Garlic Shrimp Bowls, or Chili-Spiced Crispy Fried Tofu

What I Ate Gluten-Free at Animal Kingdom

We had another quick resort breakfast—just some gluten-free donuts we brought with us. For a morning snack, we stopped at Tamu Tamu for Dole Whips. This was the first time the kids tried it and they were both hooked.  We refilled our popcorn buckets in the morning when the lines were still short to save us from having to wait later.

Lunch was at Satu’li Canteen. I got the Chimichurri-Braised Beef bowl on the hearty salad with charred green onion vinaigrette and vegetable slaw.  Brie tried the wood-grilled Chicken bowl on red and sweet potato hash with creamy herbed dressing and vegetable slaw.  Both were great—and so nice to have a fresh, filling option that wasn’t a burger. We each got a Metkayina Mousse too—probably the fanciest Disney World gluten-free dessert we found.  I don’t usually love chocolate mousse, but I’d get this again.

For dinner, we tried Flame Tree Barbecue. Brie had the half chicken with baked beans and coleslaw on the side. I had the pulled pork sandwich topped with coleslaw and baked beans on the side. They were good, not the best, but filling and better than pizza or a burger.

Gluten-free at Magic Kingdom

Gluten-free at Magic Kingdom

This was my third time looking for options for gluten-free in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, so I knew a lot of the food here is pretty standard—burgers, chicken strips, fries—but I was able to find a few better options this time. We didn’t plan any Table Service here and stuck with Quick Service order options to keep things simple since Magic Kingdom is a packed day.

Main Street, U.S.A.

  • The Plaza Restaurant (Table Service, reservations required) – turkey club sandwich, Impossible chili burger, Chipotle barbecue pork sandwich, salads, ice cream sundae, banana split
  • Casey’s Corner (Quick Service, mobile order available) – Chipotle barbecue hot dog, chili-cheese hot dog

What I Ate Gluten-Free at Magic Kingdom

We had a quick breakfast at the resort—just pop tarts again, since we had to catch an early bus for rope drop. Once we got to the park, we grabbed some popcorn from Cool Ship while we were in Tomorrowland.

For lunch, we went to Casey’s Corner, getting there a little early to try to miss the rush. That didn’t work—it was still packed, and ordering gluten-free added a lot longer to our wait time. I had planned to get the chili cheese dog but switched to the Chipotle barbecue hot dog after confirming it was gluten-free. I’m so glad I did. That bun was one of the best gluten-free buns I had the entire trip—not crumbly, it actually held together. Brie stuck with the plain hot dog. Even with the longer wait, this meal was worth it.

We snacked on popcorn and snacks we brought in the afternoon to save time.

Dinner was at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Café. Brie and I both ordered the kids’ chicken rice bowls with fries. Even though they were kids’ portions, they were filling.  Not our favorite meal of the trip, but still better than many other fast-food options outside of Disney. We also tried the sweet corn mousse for dessert—I loved it, but Brie was too full to enjoy hers.

Gluten-free at Hollywood Studios

Gluten-free at Hollywood Studios

The best gluten-free restaurants in Disney World I found were at Hollywood Studios.

While I tried to avoid any Table Service restaurants on our park days, Hollywood Studios had two that I couldn’t’ pass up. The character dining at Hollywood & Vine seemed like something Brie would enjoy—plus it came with priority seating for Fantasmic! And Roundup Rodeo BBQ looked fun and has one of the best gluten-free menus I’d seen in the parks.

Sunset Boulevard

  • Rosie’s All-American Café (Quick Service, mobile order available) – burgers, chicken strips, brownies, cookies

Echo Lake

  • Hollywood & Vine (character dining, reservations required) – a buffet with lots of gluten-free options; they’ll give you an allergy guide to bring with you to the buffet, and you can order gluten-free Mickey waffles (full review coming)
  • Backlot Express (Quick Service, mobile order available) – pulled pork, burger, chicken strips, salad, brownies, cookies

Commissary Lane

  • ABC Commissary (Quick Service, mobile order available) – chicken club, burgers, salads, kids’ ham and cheese or chicken salad sandwich, fries, black beans, Mexican rice

Toy Story Land

  • Roundup Rodeo BBQ (Table Service, reservations required) – all-you-care-to-enjoy family-style meal- ribs, beef brisket, sausage, BBQ chicken, baked beans, potato barrels, corn on the cob, veggie slaw, watermelon salad, tomato salad, and a choice of cheesecake, banana cream pie, or strawberry shortcake for dessert
  • Woody’s Lunch Box (Quick Service, mobile order available) – BBQ brisket melt, turkey sandwich, grilled cheese, tomato-basil soup, potato barrels

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

  • Oga’s Cantina (Table Service, reservations required) – Batuu Bites and a variety of drinks
  • Ronto Roasters (Quick Service, mobile order available) – breakfast wraps, Andoan fruit with Muja sauce, overnight oats, Ronto wrap, zucchini wrap
  • Docking Bay 7 (Quick Service, mobile order available) – wraps, chicken bowl, beef stir-fry, poke bowl, chicken salad, falafel

What I Ate Gluten-Free at Hollywood Studios

We again had a small, quick breakfast at the resort—just a couple gluten-free treats to hold us over until brunch.

We booked the latest breakfast slot at Hollywood & Vine for the character dining. I was honestly impressed by how much of the buffet was gluten-free. They gave us a full allergy guide to bring up to the buffet, and we were able to order gluten-free Mickey waffles for both me and Brie. That said, it’s a self-serve buffet, so cross-contamination is always a possibility. Not everyone will feel comfortable with that, but it worked for us. (Full review of Hollywood & Vine coming soon—follow on Facebook so you don’t miss it.)

In the afternoon, we stopped at Oga’s Cantina for a break. I’d planned to try the Batuu Bites, but none of us were hungry, so we just ordered drinks. I had the Fuzzy Tauntaun and the kids got Jabba Juice. The drink was fine, but honestly, the visit was more about the experience. It was the kids’ first time in a “bar” and Brie couldn’t leave without getting some dancing in. The only downside is that we were at the bar, which is standing-room only—there aren’t many tables with chairs. It was also a long wait, even with having reservations.

Dinner was the highlight. Roundup Rodeo BBQ was my favorite meal of the trip, with a huge selection of meats and a cheesecake for dessert. The food variety made it worth taking the time for another Table Service meal. It’s also the best Disney themed restaurant we saw, another meal that is worth it just for the experience (Full review of Roundup Rodeo BBQ coming soon—follow on Facebook so you don’t miss it.)

Gluten-free at Disney Springs

Gluten-free at Disney Springs

Searching for gluten-free restaurants in Disney World isn’t as easy at Disney Springs. Since not all the restaurants here are Disney-owned, they don’t all have allergy menus online. They might still offer gluten-free options, but it’s harder to find information ahead of time.

The good news? There’s a reliable gluten-free bakery at Disney Springs—making it the best place to find Disney World gluten-free desserts.

  • D-Luxe Burger (Quick Service) – burgers, chicken sandwich, fries
  • Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza (Quick Service) – pizza
  • Polite Pig (Quick Service) – chicken, pork, brisket, salmon, ribs, chicken wings, shrimp, salads, corn, potato salad
  • Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC (Quick Service) – everything is gluten-free- cupcakes, cakes, donuts, cinnamon rolls, bagels, cookies, and more
  • Sprinkles (Quick Service) – cupcakes
  • Amorette’s Patisserie (Quick Service) – crème brûlée, macarons
  • The Ganachery (Quick Service) – chocolates
  • Swirls on the Water (Quick Service) – gelato

What I Ate Gluten-Free at Disney Springs

We didn’t spend much time at Disney Springs—just a quick stroll while resort hopping—so we weren’t there for any meals.  I did stop at Erin McKenna’s while wandering around on my own in the morning on our last resort hopping day. There was so much to choose from. I settled on the churro cookie sandwich and brought a chocolate chip cookie back for Brie.

I would’ve loved to try more, but there was no way I could eat everything I wanted. I wish I had planned to check out Disney Springs on the first day—I could have stocked up on great treats to bring with us for park days and for breakfasts.

What I Ate Gluten-Free at the Disney World Resorts

We brought a lot of gluten-free snacks to save money and time, so we used those a lot while resort hopping.

For dinner on our arrival day, Brie and I tried the gluten-free pizza at World Premiere Food Court (All-Star Movies). It was decent for gluten-free pizza. Since pizza is Brie’s favorite, she loved it.

Resort Hoping Day 1

On our first resort hopping day, we started at Wilderness Lodge with breakfast at Roaring Fork. I tried the totcho bowl, which I was really looking forward to but was disappointed. I’d seen pictures showing sausage gravy on it, but the gluten-free version didn’t have any—just potato barrels with eggs, cheese, bacon, and green onion. Brie got the platter with bacon, sausage, eggs, gluten free toast, and potato barrels and was happy with it. I had hoped to eat at Geyser Point, but the timing didn’t work out.

For lunch, we went to Polynesian for ‘Ohana breakfast with Lilo and Stitch. (Full review coming soon—follow on Facebook for updates.)  We left pretty full and were good until we got to the Contemporary, where we grabbed Mickey bars at Contempo Café. Brie liked them more than Dole Whip since it’s covered in chocolate.

Our day ended at Fort Wilderness. I got ribs with fries, cornbread, and coleslaw to share with Zen, while Brie had a pulled pork sandwich with fries. Brie was happy with her food; Zen wasn’t impressed with the ribs.  They weren’t the greatest, which is why I skipped them at Flame Tree Barbecue as planned and tried the pulled pork instead.

Resort Hoping Day 2

Our second resort hopping day started with breakfast in our room.

When we walked through Landscape of Flavors at Art of Animation we noticed they had gluten-free cupcakes and grabbed some for a morning snack. I’m not a huge chocolate cake fan, so didn’t care for it much, but Brie loved hers.

We had planned to do lunch at Spyglass Grill but I realized it was pretty far from the Caribbean Beach Resort area we were in, so we did a mobile order from Centertown Market instead. This was the first burger I tried, and while the bun held together better than expected, it wasn’t as good as the burger I had at Connections in EPCOT the next night. The highlight here, was the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines that you can use to fill your resort refill mug (we brought ours with us while resort hoping).

For dinner, we stopped at the Beach Club Marketplace. I got a chili cheese dog, which I’d been looking forward to since it had been a while since I had a hot dog with a decent bun. It did not disappoint. We also tried the gluten-free brownies here, and they are amazing—better than what I had expected.

Resort Hoping Day 3

On our last resort hopping day, I went to check out a few resorts on my own while the kids rested. We had planned to go to Olivia’s Café at Old Key West for breakfast, but since the kids weren’t coming, I just ate another pop tart in the room.

My first food stop was the treat I’d been most excited about—gluten-free beignets at Scat Cat’s Club Café. I got chocolate dipping sauce with mine and brought enough back for Brie, but of course had to try one fresh before I left. They were as good as I’d read online. It’s definitely worth a trip to Port Orleans French Quarter on a resort day to try them.

For lunch, I mobile-ordered from the All-Star Movies food court on the bus ride back to pick up the kids. Brie and I decided to try the Disney gluten-free chicken tenders, which were good but nothing special.

Dinner was supposed to be at Three Bridges at Coronado Springs. I had wanted to try some Disney gluten-free churros, but January was cold and that day was one of the coldest. Since Three Bridges is open-air, we skipped it and ate at El Mercado de Coronado instead. The bowl station there is fully gluten-free, so I didn’t have to wait for a manager to order. Brie tried the chicken Tinga, Zen got barbacoa beef, and I had the market nachos—all delicious. I was impressed enough that Coronado Springs is now on my bucket list for a future stay—eating gluten-free there is easy.

My gluten-free Disney World Review

So, is Disney good for gluten-free?

I haven’t eaten so well since going gluten-free 2 years ago.

We didn’t eat nearly as much as I thought we would, so I didn’t get to try as much as I hoped.  It was great to have such a variety of gluten-free foods—not just be stuck with the usual salads and burgers on soggy buns.  Even when I did get a meal with a gluten-free bun, they were some of the best I’ve had.

Desserts were the highlight for me—it’s hard to find good gluten-free treats on the go.

Even the brownie we got from Beach Club Marketplace was amazing. I’d seen them on menus everywhere but hadn’t bothered trying until then, thinking it’d be just a typical small gluten-free brownie. It was worth the money.

If you’re planning a trip and need to eat gluten-free, Disney is one of the easiest places to do it. The number of gluten-free restaurants in Disney World makes it easy to build a trip around good food—without the stress.
