Hollywood & Vine Breakfast Review: Gluten Free Edition

Hollywood & Vine Breakfast Review

Looking for a Hollywood Studios gluten free breakfast recommendation? The Hollywood & Vine Breakfast is a great option—especially if your kids are Disney Junior fans. It’s a buffet with classic American breakfast foods, a fun classic diner-themed atmosphere, and the chance to meet Disney Junior characters without waiting in long lines.

While some celiacs and gluten-sensitive guests may be hesitant about buffets, I decided to give this one a try during our January 2025 trip. The food is pretty typical for a breakfast buffet, but what makes Hollywood & Vine stand out is the character experience and being an option for the Fantasmic! Dining Package.

On this trip, we also ate gluten free at two other table service restaurants: ‘Ohana’s Best Friends Breakfast (read that review here) and Roundup Rodeo BBQ (my favorite—find out why here). If you’re looking for more resort or park dining options, check out my full Disney Gluten Free Restaurants Review.

This Hollywood & Vine Breakfast Review breaks down what to expect: the gluten-free food choices, atmosphere, character interactions, and whether it’s worth the price.

Planning Your Hollywood & Vine Disney Junior Play ‘n Dine Breakfast

Hollywood & Vine Disney Junior Play ‘n Dine Breakfast

While you might luck out with walk-up availability, it’s best to make an advance dining reservation since there’s no guarantee of walk-ins.   FYI-If you cancel less than two hours before your reservation, Disney charges their standard $10 per person cancellation fee.

Hollywood & Vine is located in the Echo Lake area of Hollywood Studios, across from the lake and right next to 50’s Prime Time Café. It’s close to the park entrance, so easy to get to if you’re booked for an early morning breakfast.

Both breakfast and lunch/dinner are buffets. Breakfast is served from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM, while lunch and dinner are from 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM.

As for pricing, breakfast is slightly cheaper at $49 for adults 10+ and $33 for kids ages 3 to 9. Lunch and dinner cost $63 for adults and $42 for kids. You can also use one table service credit from the Disney Dining Plan for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

When you arrive, check in using the My Disney Experience app or head to the host stand right outside the entrance. Plan to spend about an hour here, depending on how busy it is.

Unfortunately, Disney doesn’t post the Hollywood & Vine allergy‑friendly menu online, which makes advance planning tricky; however, I’ve listed every gluten‑free option below. Once you arrive, the server gives you an allergy guide (you can check it out in my TikTok video) so you can review it before you go up to the buffet.

Atmosphere/Theming

Hollywood & Vine has that old-school Hollywood diner vibe, with bright lighting, black-and-white floors, and chrome-accented furniture. Booth-and-chair seating makes it comfortable for families or larger groups. Vintage Hollywood wall murals add a fun backdrop, and the space is open and well-lit—great for character photos.

Hollywood & Vine Characters

Our Hollywood & Vine Gluten Free Review

There are two separate character experiences at Hollywood & Vine, depending on when you go. Breakfast is “Disney Junior Play n’ Dine”, perfect for younger kids. Lunch and dinner are “Minnie’s Seasonal Dining”, featuring characters in themed outfits that change throughout the year.

Characters wear themed outfits based on the current season or holiday.

When you arrive, the staff will provide an allergen guide that shows which buffet items are gluten free. You can carry this guide with you as you serve yourself to make safe choices.

Plus, you can order gluten-free Mickey waffles, which the chef will bring right to your table. If cross-contamination concerns you (understandable with a buffet)you can also ask staff to bring out certain items fresh from the kitchen instead of serving yourself.

♬ Every Day’s A Holiday (Album Version) – Glenn Miller

We booked one of the latest breakfast time slots, 10:20 AM, so we could have a light snack instead of lunch and then enjoy an early dinner to avoid crowds.

When we arrived, there was no line. We checked in outside, had time to park Brie’s wheelchair, and walked right in.

As we entered, the hostess offered to take a family photo in front of some backdrops before seating us.

The restaurant wasn’t busy at all, with lots of empty tables. Because of that, the characters came around quickly, and we had seen them all long before we finished eating. We didn’t worry about missing any characters while at the buffet. Unless it was clear the character was heading to our table next, we simply went up knowing they could easily come back after we returned.

Goofy was the first character to visit our table—before we even received our drinks. After that, we went to the buffet, and Vampirina stopped by to see the kids while I was still grabbing my food. When I returned, Doc McStuffins was there before I’d started eating. We managed a few bites before Fancy Nancy dropped by. After all the characters visited, they did their dance.

Since it was still quiet, Fancy Nancy came back over after we finished eating and while we waited for the bill. Zen was on her phone, and Fancy Nancy leaned over her shoulder, tapping the screen like she wanted something. It took me a moment, and then I realized she wanted Zen to take a selfie. Zen pulled up the camera, and after the photo, Fancy Nancy clapped and happily walked away.

Gluten Free Food

Hollywood Studios Gluten Free Food

Hollywood & Vine gluten-free selection is decent, but I was disappointed they didn’t offer any gluten free breads or pastries. The only gluten-free substitute they provide is the Mickey waffles, which was brought to our table by the time we returned from the buffet.

Other Disney restaurants offer more alternatives, like gluten-free toast at the quick-service breakfasts, and even gluten-free donuts at ‘Ohana’s breakfast. Since you can only eat about half the buffet options here, a discount on the gluten-free meal would make sense.

For an adult, the gluten-free choices were enough to fill me up, and Brie was satisfied as well. However, for younger kids, watching others come back with pastries like muffins, Danishes, donut holes, and cinnamon rolls while they get nothing similar would be tough.

It’s helpful that the restaurant gives you a gluten-free guide to check the buffet items, but I think adding gluten-free symbols on the food signs would speed things up for everyone. I’ve seen this done at other buffets like Great Wolf Lodge, and it really cuts down the wait since you’re not holding up the line trying to cross-reference the guide. We didn’t have this problem since it wasn’t busy, but on a crowded day, it could slow things down.

As for the food quality, everything was good but nothing special—just standard breakfast fare, so it’s hard to go wrong. None of us tried the omelet bar. Brie loved the waffles the most, and I was happy with the meat options. I was also impressed they offered ice cream for breakfast dessert. I had a little for a sugar boost, but the kids were too full and skipped it.

Our plan to fill up on a late breakfast and skip lunch worked well. We had an early afternoon reservation at Oga’s Cantina where we had planned to grab a snack, but we were still full and just got drinks instead. Waiting until our 4:00 PM dinner at Roundup Rodeo BBQ wasn’t a problem at all.

Is Hollywood & Vine at Hollywood Studios Gluten Free Worth It?

Is Hollywood & Vine Worth It

Whether this breakfast is worth it depends on what you’re looking for. As a gluten free adult, I had no real complaints. The food was decent, and I left full. But for gluten free kids who may feel left out when they can’t have pastries, it could be harder—especially if they’re younger.

This meal isn’t worth it for the food alone. What you’re really paying for is the character dining experience. It’s a great way to meet Disney Junior characters without waiting in line. And since Hollywood & Vine is part of the Fantasmic! Dining Package, you also get access to the reserved seating section for the nighttime show.

If you’re looking for Hollywood Studios gluten free dining options that include character interactions and reserved Fantasmic seating, Hollywood & Vine is the one to book.  Just be prepared for limited gluten-free options.
